My father, Sgt John Tait, served with the 1st Engineers in WW2 from Dec 1941 till April 1945. In north Africa he was part of Provisional Co. D. This was made up of the 9 half-tracks from the Battalion. I would like to buy a die cast model of the half track but I am not sure what the make and model was. Does anybody have any information on this?

Hi Diehards of the 1st Engineer Bn. I left a message a while back I was assigned to HHC 1st Engineer Bn but attached to E Co, I was known as Doc Redmond or Murdoc the Medic. We pulled to river operations in support of the Divisions operations. I would like to know the where abouts of those who particapted in those operations. We have lost of good men in our 1st Infantry Division over the years. I hope to hear from some of you who remember those operations. Thank you, I am also proud of our Big Red One men for getting back to Germany, I pray for our losses.
Doc Redmond

124 Cecil Lane Alvarado Tx. 76009 Ph.# 817-783-3863 Do you remember the time around Feb. 20th.thru Feb. 25th. 1973, that we where held over, from going on leave, until we produced the guys that messed up the platoon leaders locker. If you can remember me I was the guy that led the down stairs group, upstairs to find out who done the mischief. I also was the one that fell off the horizontal bars and hurt my neck and back.

Although my book, River of Memories: An Appalachian Boyhood, is primarily about my 1940s-'50s West Virginia Appalachian boyhood, I'm certain Vietnam veterans and others would enjoy the final chapter, "Deliverance," which tells about my tour of duty in Di An, Vietnam (1965-66), with the 1st Infantry Division. If you wish to read "Deliverance," then click on the website. Once you have read "Deliverance," I do hope you will share your thoughts in my guestbook. Thanks.
